Shadowland by Alyson Noel Review

Shadowland is the third book in the Immortals Series.

Synopsis
Enter the realm of the Immortals—the #1 New York Times bestselling series that’s been acclaimed as breathtaking, mesmerizing, flawless and extraordinary.
Ever and Damen have traveled through countless past lives—and fought off the world’s darkest enemies—so they could be together forever. But just when their long-awaited destiny is finally within reach, a powerful curse falls upon Damen…one that could destroy everything. Now a single touch of their hands or a soft brush of their lips could mean sudden death—plunging Damen into the Shadowland. Desperate to break the curse and save Damen, Ever immerses herself in magick—and gets help from an unexpected source…a surfer named Jude.
Although she and Jude have only just met, he feels startlingly familiar. Despite her fierce loyalty to Damen, Ever is drawn to Jude, a green-eyed golden boy with magical talents and a mysterious past. She’s always believed Damen to be her soulmate and one true love—and she still believes it to be true. But as Damen pulls away to save them, Ever’s connection with Jude grows stronger—and tests her love for Damen like never before…

Format: Hardcover

Pages: 339

Publisher: St. Martin's Press

Rating: 3 1/2 stars

Ever, the main character, and her boyfriend Damen are forced to to try and find a way to break the curse that is set on them. With any transfer of their body cells on the other will result in unwanted and dangerous consequences. Jude a surfer boy who takes charge of running his guardian's shop soon enters Ever's world. Ever and Jude have an instant attraction towards each other. Will Ever and Damen's love survive? Well I don't want to give too much away so if you are interested go out and buy the book.

This is an easy book to get into. When each chapter ended I was propelled to keep on reading. There was also the addition of more characters to the book. Which made it all the more interesting to read. As you read you will never guess what will happen next. Alyson throws in twists that you cannot see coming. I have read the first and second book to this series and loved both of them. However this book was sort of a disappointment to me. Alyson kept on repeating stuff for example the descriptions of the characters. By her doing this I felt like she was talking down on the audience as if we are dumb. The other problem I had was that the plot did not come till about the last 100 pages. This book leaves you wandering what will happen next.

Books recieved this week!

This week has been a week of books for me.
Ok, I know that Sunday is always the end of a week. But on Sunday 11/22 I couldn't stand the thought that I have not been to the bookstore in so long, and that I have not bought a book either in like two months. So on Sunday I went to Barnes and Noble before my aunt's surprise birthday party and bought Alyson Noel's third book to her series THE IMMORTALS, which is Shadowland. I absolutely am hooked on this series. I love the chemistry and struggle of Damen and Ever's love for each other. Right now I am on page 81 and loving it so far.

The second book I got is Lockdown by Alexander Gordon Smith. Which was in my mailbox Monday 11/23. I might read and review this book somewhere down the road. The plot of this book seems interesting but I just don't like the cover.

The Maze Runner by James Dashner is the third and maybe last book that I will recieve this week. I'm really excited to read it, and the cover is just amazing. Recieved today Wed 11/25.

If I Stay Book Review

Synopsis

A critically acclaimed novel that will change the way you look at life, love, and family.

In the blink of an eye everything changes. Seventeen-year-old Mia has no memory of the accident; she can only recall what happened afterwards, watching her own damaged body being taken from the wreck. Little by little she struggles to put together the pieces- to figure out what she has lost, what she has left, and the very difficult choice she must make. Heartwrenchingly beautiful, Mia's story will stay with you for a long, long time.

Written by Gayle Forman. She is an award-winning author and journalist whose writtings have appeared in popular magazines.

format: Hardcover
pages: 208
Publisher: Penguin Group (USA) Incorporated

On my Barnes and Noble profile I have reviewed this book and this is what I said about this wonderful book. This was a good book it makes you think what you would want people to do if you were put in a hospital. I like how the author could write in the present and have the main character think about the past. And the past links to the present in this book (sorry if this kind of confuses whoever is reading this but when you read it you'll understand). The ending was so good. I hope there is a sequel to this book. I would love to know how life is for these people afterwards.

Today= disaster day

Ugh, today was a disaster! I had to give a presentation to my class about The Book Thief. I was prepared and ready to go; I had everything planned out. As soon as I started talking all my thoughts got scattered and my notes failed to support me. Not to mention there was so much pressure to do just as good as the rest of my classmates who did their presentations flawlessly. Then there was me struggling to gather my thoughts with everyone staring and waiting for me to speak. Tomorrow I get a chance to redeem myself wish me luck! I figured out today that I am way better at giving my opinion than explaining what goes on in a book to a group of people. Also I don't mess up any presentation if it is 40+ people. How crazy is that? I can give a presentation to a number of people but I can't for a small group? Have you ever had an expreience like this?

Introduction

So,this is my first post. I just wanted to start off by introducing myself. I'm 18 years old, even though I don't look like it. I have loved books ever since I was a toddler and didn't even know how to read. Books have been a big part of my life and they have helped me get through difficult times. I'm currently taking a creative writing class at school, because I want to become an author. I love reviewing books and finding books that have yet to be released. If I could I would make a Barnes and Noble bookstore with all the books included my home. :) Thanks for visiting my blog. I hope you like it and look forward to seeing future posts.
